CMS to Add 5-Star Ratings to Healthcare, including Home Health

Do you pick restaurants and hotels by their star ratings?  You want the best or at least know what you are getting, right?

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be expanding the 5-Star Rating system for healthcare. Currently, CMS provides stars to nursing homes, Medicare health plans with Part B coverage, Medicare Advantage plans, physician group practices, and accountable care organizations. CMS is planning to add stars to all of the compare websites by 2016. Hospitals will be the next setting to have the star status, and Home Health will be in 2016.

To date, there are no specifics on the method or factors that will be used to calculate the star ratings.

unfortunately, star ratings are notoriously plagued by fake/false ratings generators; however,It can be done right if the parameters are set accordingly to avoid such issues.
